Planning a wedding in Europe from afar is equal parts thrilling and overwhelming — a language you might not speak, suppliers you’ve never met, and a day you’ve imagined for years. My job is to make at least one part of it effortless: the photographs, and the calm of having someone beside you who gets it.
I’m Alexandra Dinca, an editorial and documentary wedding photographer based near Lyon. For 17 years and more than 250 weddings I’ve photographed celebrations across France, Italy and Switzerland — and I do it in English, French, Romanian or Spanish, whichever puts you and your guests at ease.
On a destination wedding day, your photographer is one of the few suppliers who’s with you from morning prep to the dance floor. If you can talk easily — about your timeline, your family, the small things you’re nervous about — everything feels lighter. No miming, no awkward gaps, no “I think that’s what she meant.” Just someone reading the day with you.
France is where I’m based and where much of my work lives — golden Provence light, private domains, and grand châteaux that feel like a film set. Most French weddings include a civil ceremony at the local town hall (mairie), often followed by a symbolic ceremony and celebration at your venue, and I’m used to weaving both into one seamless story.
Italy is made for celebrations — and I travel throughout the country for them. Whether it’s a hilltop villa in Tuscany, an elegant lakeside day on Lake Como or Lake Garda, a cliffside ceremony on the Amalfi Coast, or a sun-drenched masseria in Apulia, my approach stays the same: I follow the day quietly and let it be itself.
For couples drawn to the Alps and the water, Switzerland’s Lake Geneva region — Geneva, Lausanne and the vineyards of the Lavaux — offers a refined, mountain-meets-lake backdrop. It’s an easy reach from my base, and a region I love returning to.
My style is editorial and documentary: candid, unstaged, with a timeless and slightly cinematic finish. I stay in the background, capture the day honestly, and step in only when a little gentle guidance helps. Many of my couples plan from abroad, so I’m happy to help with timelines, light, and trusted local suppliers long before the day itself.
Wedding collections start at €2,200, with packages up to around €4,300 depending on coverage. Elopements and destination weddings are quoted individually — tell me your plans and I’ll tailor something to them.
Yes — and I love it. I’m based near Lyon and photograph weddings throughout France (especially Lyon and Provence), all over Italy (Tuscany, Lake Como, Lake Garda, the Amalfi Coast and Apulia), and around Switzerland’s Lake Geneva region (Geneva and Lausanne). Destination weddings elsewhere in Europe are very welcome too.
Yes. I speak English, French, Romanian and Spanish, and I work with international and English-speaking couples all the time. You’ll never feel lost in translation on your wedding day — with me or with your guests.

Editorial and documentary. I photograph the day as it actually unfolds — the real laughter, the quiet glances, the chaos and the calm — with a refined, timeless aesthetic. Very little posing, no stiff “say cheese” moments.
Absolutely. Some of my favourite days are intimate elopements and micro-weddings — a château courtyard, a Tuscan hillside, a town hall (mairie) ceremony followed by dinner with the people who matter most.
Yes, it’s a lot of what I do. Over 17 years and 250+ weddings I’ve photographed countless château and private-domain celebrations across France and Europe, so I know how these venues move through a day, where the light falls, and how to stay invisible while it happens.
Of course. Many of my couples are planning from abroad. I’m happy to share venue and timing advice, recommend trusted suppliers, and build a relaxed timeline by email or video call before you ever arrive.
Send me a message with your date, location and a little about your day. If I’m free, we’ll have a call, and a deposit secures your date in the calendar.
If you’re marrying in France, Italy or Switzerland and want photographs that feel like you — sincere, editorial, and beautifully unforced — I’d love to hear about it.
